THE choice for youth binoculars. Outstanding!
I have been an outdoor educator and bird watcher for over 18 years now, and one of my pet peeves has always been finding decent binoculars at a fair price for youth nature programs. I've worked at places that have bought useless toy binoculars that are worse than using toilet paper tubes, and cheap 10x25 pocket binoculars that have far too narrow a field of view for kids to use, are very dim, and have a tiny exit pupil. Both of these options are useless in the field and can turn kids off to using binoculars entirely. In other jobs in the past I got to research and buy binoculars for kids myself- ultimately going with the Vortex Raptor 8.5x32. These are actually quite good for kids as well, but the porro design makes them a little too big for little hands, they were more prone to damage and didn't feel as solid as I would have liked, and the 8.5 magnification was still a bit much for younger kids to handle. Not to mention the price point is higher than the Bantams. In short, as an outdoor educator working with kids, I have been desperately waiting for someone to make something like these Bantams for YEARS. I got to test a pair in the field yesterday, and I am shocked at the quality for the low price. I compared them side by side with my own 8x32 Sightron Blue Sky II (razor sharp bins that have a cult following), and the Bantams surprisingly held their own- they were sharp, bright, easy to focus, no noticeable chromatic abberation, and they feel like they're built like a tank (build quality was actually superior to the Sightrons as far as I can tell.) If I put on my adult birder/optics nerd hat and had to pick them apart, there was a little bit of a learning curve on getting the exit pupil (image) lined up with my eyes with the eye cups extended fully, and there was a slight "rolling ball" distortion at the edges of the image when scanning the landscape. That being said, I would absolutely take these birding myself and be quite happy with their performance. For adults, these are an awesome pair of car or travel binoculars, or would be excellent for any birders with shaky hands who lose too much sharpness with a 8x or 10x magnification. TLDR: Vortex hit an absolute grand slam for quality, rugged binoculars designed for youth at a price that's well below their performance level. They have no business being this good for the price. Now it's time to work 15-20 pairs into our 2026 budget!

Vortex quality and warranty
Vortex is a very well known quality product with an excellent lifetime warranty. This binocular can be used by youth as well as for adults. High quality for the money. The image is excellent for this price of binoculars. Great eye relief of 18.7mm--needed for those wearing eyeglasses. Focus is smooth and precise. Nice binoculars for backpacking, light weight for travel, well as at home viewing.

Great for taking on family vacations.
These are great binoculars for vacations! I've taken them on several vacations so far and the quality and usability is very good, while still being cheap enough that I won't cry if my kids lose them. They are also great for getting a better look at animals that pass through the yard. Before these I had tried more powerful binoculars but found the high magnification to be disorienting. I've purchased two pairs so far, but might order more.

Excellent Quality, Great Value
Let me be clear at the onset: I only use binoculars for stargazing so I have no idea if these are good for hunting or birdwatching. I own a pair of the Vortex Optics Viper HD Roof Prism Binoculars 8x42 and I love them but they are packed in my astronomy kit and kind of heavy for extended use. I wanted a light pair of binoculars for every night use that I could just store in a living room side table and grab and go. After extensive research I settled on the Vortex Bantam. Sure they are marketed for kids and I think these are great for kids use but as an adult I am very happy. Like my other Vortex pair the optics are top shelf and the mechanical focus is smooth as silk. Eye cups adjust for perfect relief. Really surprised how good they are for 20% of the price of my other pair. Sure I sacrifice a little magnification but I can still see all the fun sky objects I love to scan on the regular (Orion Nebula, Sirius, Capella, Betelgeuse, Rigel, Pleiades, Andromeda, Aldebaran, Cassiopeia, and of course the solar system planets). These were exactly what I was looking for great set.

Nice little kit.
So I found a pair of these on Ebay at a stupid good price and bought them for my daughter. Liked them so much I picked up another pair here on Amazon for myself. Just as a data point reference, I am 6ft 220lbs and am at the max interpupillary distance on these. Also, I own a silly amount high-ish end binos and these are not them. However, for a tenth of the price of some of my others, the viewing through these is 90% of those and are perfect for the glove box, as a loaner to someone without a pair or when you want super light weight and still have quality glass. 6.5x magnification is a sweet spot for edc. Oh yea, nice little pouch and sling provided. Vortex hit a homerun with these at this price point.

exceptional value for kid's binoculars with one caveat
I bought this for my 11 year old son, who is still rather small. I use the Vortex Viper HD 8x42, and have been very pleased with the brand. I initially bought the Vortex Raptor 8.5x32, but these proved too large for his small hands so I passed them on to another family member. The new Bantams are the PERFECT size for smaller hands, but feel great even in mine! Very easy to adjust and focus. I am especially pleased that they included covers/rainguards for both the objective lenses and the eyepieces. The small case is absolutely fine, very nice quality, actually, given the low price. But, where I was most impressed was with image quality. Keep in mind, I am used to the $500 Viper HDs, but when I looked at the spines of books across the living room in low light levels, I was quite surprised at the clarity! Outdoors was more of the same. Really crisp, bright images, especially given the 32mm objectives. And the 6.5x oculars give enough magnification while providing a wider field of view, making it easier for youth/beginners to locate their viewing subject. Now, the one caveat: the near focusing distance is a minimum of about 12' (around 3.5 meters). I suspect the physics of the size/lenses limited how close this could be, but it's disappointing given how much my son (and I suspect other young nature lovers) enjoys looking at bugs, reptiles, amphibians, etc..... I.e., subjects that tend to be closer than 10' when viewing them. For this reason, I plan to upgrade him to different Vortex binos as soon as he's ready for a heavier pair. But, in summary, these are simply great for the money. If you're looking for a great first pair of binoculars for a small child, especially for viewing birds and wildlife on hikes, this is really a stellar value. The price is unbeatable. The unconditional warranty is top in its class (free repairs or replacement even with no receipt or proof of purchase or box, etc); no need to worry about drops/spills/falls/accidents. The image quality is better than any other pair of youth binos we've tried. The feel in the hand and ease of focusing is great. Highly recommend these binoculars!

Great quality for the price!
Just bought these for Xmas for my youngest they are labeled as youth but I can use them as well. Great quality, crystal clear at full field of view. Sometimes when he uses my 10x40 binos he has a hard time picking up the object quickly I think the less magnification and wider field of view in this pair will eliminate that.

Awesome little binos!
Bought these for my nephew and quickly realized these would be great for bow hunting. Lightweight and plenty good for this purpose. I have a larger pair of 10x42 from a different company but these little guys have now become my go to. Highly recommend!

It's definitely worth having.
A must-have for beginners! The lens is bright and clear, with a wide field of view and rich detail. It's also waterproof for outdoor use. The quality of the product itself exceeds its purchase price, which made me fall in love with the VORTEX brand. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs binoculars.
