MARCHWAY Ultralight Folding Camping Cot Bed, Portable, Supports 275 lbs

I purchased this cot after reading many reviews about it. Thankfully somebody had said that there was a “learning curve” to it and that kept going through my mind as I was putting it together. I was stumped immediately because I could not figure out how to get the poles in the sleeves. They went through all of the holes but I couldn’t get them to go into the end pockets on one side. I was convinced they had stitched up the ends on mine. Fortunately some young man had posted a video which I had watched before I purchased it so I knew that it was easy (or at least appeared easy) to put together. I went back and watched it in very slow segments and I saw that there is a little tiny opening on one end. So I went back to look at my cot and sure enough the TINY openings that you slide the poles through are on the end that have loops. They are the kind of loops that you would use to stake down a tent-so when you are putting your poles through the slots, first look for those loops and start there- save yourself a lot of time and frustration. Now for the support pieces. I am almost 60. I recently had hand surgery on both of my hands, so I have no strength in my hands. I struggle to light a lighter for a campfire. This is how weak my hands are-so when I got started putting the support pieces onto the cot, I was like another reviewer who basically said forget it -it’s not worth it. It’s too much trouble. But then I kept remembering somebody said that there was a learning curve to it. And someone else said their pieces were different. So I decided to try a different support piece than the one I had been working with. Oddly, that one went on easier. Also, I studied the picture in the instructions and I stood on the opposite side of the bars, just like the person in the picture. Another tip: start with the center support piece. After that you can go in either direction. BE VERY CAREFUL TO NOT PINCH YOUR HANDS. After you get the center one done then the other pieces go on easier- not super easy-but easier. Once it’s put together, another reviewer who was about my age, suggested to get down on your knees and kind of just roll over to get on it. I suggest that too because you are really low to the ground. You’re so low to the ground that I noticed the grandkids’ toys under my couch. Anyhow I wasn’t so low to the ground that I was scraping the ground when I laid on it. There was still space between me and the floor. I didn’t think it was uncomfortable. It seemed to hold me pretty good. I weigh 180 (unless I’m at the DMV) and I am 5’3”. There was plenty of space for me to turn over, and I tried bouncing around on it to be “kind of rough” to see if it would collapse on me because several people had said it had collapsed, and it seemed to do fine, but I wasn’t on an unlevel gravel surface. I was on basement carpet. There are two pockets up near head of it. My Kindle Paperwhite and glasses fit perfectly in one pocket and my iPhone fit fine in the other pocket. I posted a pic so you can see. I laid down on it several times last night, leaving it stretched out for the night. This morning I tried taking it apart; it came apart very easily. Then I tried putting it back together and it went together much easier. I think because I had let it stretch out it was easier to assemble. There was still some difficulty due to the strength of my hands, but it wasn’t nearly as difficult as it was the first time I put it together. Before I took it apart, I took a gold sharpie and I labeled which support pieces go where. I put the center as C3 because it was the center and the third one in line; H1 for the head and the first one in position; and then 2 and so on. Hopefully, that’ll make it easier for me when I camp and put it together. I am planning on going camping next week. If this thing collapses on me, I will come back and I will update this review and I will let you know ALL about it. I will be royally ticked because I actually have a really nice cot. I just bought this one because it is lightweight and compact and my cot is very cumbersome. But as of right now I think this one is going to be OK.

I’ve been on 2 week-long camping trips with this so far and it works great. I’m a very sensitive side sleeper and find this very comfortable to sleep on. And it’s pretty easy to assemble and disassemble and fit back into the bag. And it feels quite sturdy and folds up pretty compactly. It does take a little elbow-grease to bend the cross-beams when attaching or detaching, so if you have muscle weakness I don’t recommend it. But I haven’t had an issue with it at all. It’s one of my favorite pieces of camping gear.

As of this review I have not officially slept on it but so far it’s decent. The fabric is a nice camping material that seems to be pretty solid. Set up is super easy after looking it over took me maybe 5 minutes. You will need a little bit of strength to put the bottom supports in. After laying on it I’m a little sad the head of the cot does not have more support if you are a taller person the head of the cot has no support and tends to fold in a bit. I’m guessing most people will be using a sleeping bag on this so that shouldn’t be an issue but using just a blanket and pillow is uncomfortable due to the type of material so definitely bring something to put under you. Packing was great it folds up nice and packs away in a simple sack for easy storage. The weighs nearly nothing. Does what it’s intended to do.

I only purchased this cot yesterday, so I haven’t tried it overnight yet, but I’m already impressed. I set it up right away to make sure all parts were included and functional. I had read the reviews before buying and noted the very helpful tip to rest the cot on its side when attaching the crossbars. Once you have the two long poles in place on both sides, lay the cot on the ground lengthwise. Then, place the crossbar on the pole against the floor and apply a downward force, pushing it against the floor to create enough elastic deformation in the crossbar (don’t worry, you won’t break it) so it can attach to the top side. This actually required very little effort and is probably the safer way to assemble it because you don’t have to worry about the crossbar flying across the room. Without even looking at the instructions, I had the cot unboxed and fully assembled in under six minutes, all while sitting on the couch. It was very comfortable to lie on for the few minutes I tested it and felt much wider and roomier than I expected. I purchased this for a family member to use instead of a rollaway bed for an upcoming hotel stay, and also for use on the lawn at our beach rental. I also anticipate it being used at home for cousins and other visitors sleeping over in the future. This packs up very small, easily fits back in its storage bag. This will be packed in my under seat carry on.

Item arrived quickly and was easy to set-up. Instructions okay, but watched a youtube video for hints and how to best tension the legs. Have not used in field yet, but cot held my 230 lb, 6' 4" (193 cm) frame well. My head and feet are just at the ends of the cot. Sideways sleeping was fine directly on the cot (without a sleeping pad or bag). Easy to disassemble and stores well in the provided stuff sack. After being on it for about 20 minutes in various positions, didn't notice and significant stretching or sag. I expect some over time with use. This might not be the strongest or lightest weight cot, but for car camping or bike camping it packs small and travels well. I wouldn't take it backpacking, as space and weight are a premium. This appears to be a real gem re: value versus cost. Time will tell regarding quality. -----------------UPDATE-------------------- Tried in the field and works well. No permanent sagging or stretch for my 230 lb body. My only complaint is that my inflatable foam mattress easily slid around on the cot with tossing and turning. Often woke up with the mattress half-off the cot. I am sure I could come up with a set-up to reduce this.

We recently started tent camping, we’re gearing up for overlanding in a side by side. We bought sleeping mats that were great, comfortable, all the things, but decided to try cots. We love these. That maybe six inches off the ground made a difference for us. We can set on the side of the cot getting dressed and easier to get off of than coming off the ground. We’re in our sixties. Very comfortable, fold up easily and compact! Very sturdy, very stable. So happy with this purchase!

I've done a lot of self-support overnight rafting trips. From the Grand Canyon to the Salmon to the Smith to the New River. I've spend alot of nights sleeping next to the river whether in a tent, on a sleeping pad or a Paco-Pad. I just got off 8 days / 7 nights / 100 nights of the Middle Fork of the Salmon river and have never slept better after adding the MARCHWAY cot to the sleeping equation. We slept in the tent for 2 nights up high in the mountains but spent the rest of the trip sleeping under the stars on the ultralight cot. I added a paco-pad on top of my cot just because but sleeping directly on the cot, as my wife did, was totally fine. Fairly easy to assemble and disassemble from what my wife says, she handles the sleeping stuff after I pick our spot but she had no complaints regarding ease of use. 6 out of the 18 people in our trip had these cots and all were super happy with the sleeping upgrade.

This is a great cot. It's easy to put up and is very firm. I'm only 160lbs but it held me fine and was very comfortable (I put a pad on top of it). I slept on this while camping and was very happy to have it. It's also comes in a very small, compact bag, which is great when space is an issue.

Absolutely perfect. Just what we needed for the hot weather, as a spare bed for downstairs sleeping. Easy to put together and stores down to a small size

Exactly as described. Far less price than the "Name brands" but a quality item at a reasonable price. Nicely happy with my purchase.

Das Bett macht eine sehr soliden Eindruck. Aufbau ist schnell erledigt. Durch die zehn Füße drückt sich nichts in den Zeltboden. Die Bespannung ist sehr fest, sodass man nicht durchliegt. Schön ist die Breite von knapp 70cm. Werde es für Motorradtouren nutzen. Für diesen Preis unschlagbar.

You won't regret buying this! We do a lot of camping/kayaking and always took inflatable mattress because they were compact but never thought a camping cot would be as compact and way way more comfortable! East to assemble, light weight and 2 cots fit perfectly in our tent. My bf can now move as much as he wants I am not waking up feeling I'm in a wave from tge inflatable mattress! Best buy ever for a great night sleep!
